Interview tips
- Review the job description, learn about who we are, and consider what questions you have for us.
- Come prepared – tell us why you are a good fit for the role and MIT, assess whether this role and MIT meet your aspirations.
- Highlight your strengths, provide examples of your skills and experience relevant to the role.
- Try to relax, share your personality, and don’t forget to talk about your strengths.
- Take your time answering questions, if unclear, ask the interviewer which skill or experience they want to learn more about.
- Please remember to bring your ID and completed forms.
We welcome you to bring your whānau (including kaumatua), or other support people (someone who you feel secure with and who knows you well) to support you by attending the interview with you. You and your whānau are assured that you will be treated in a manner which is inclusive, safe and respectful of your cultural values.

Key steps
- The applicant and whānau are welcomed with a mihi (greeting) and/or karakia (prayer) as agreed before the interview, and you will have the opportunity to respond.
- During the interview, the whānau/support person will be invited to speak about you, outlining your qualities and suitability for the position.
- The panel will interview you using the same questions as other applicants for the position. At the end, you and your whānau/support person can ask questions or add further comments about your suitability of the role.
- The chairperson of the panel will indicate when the interview is complete. The whanau/support person will be thanked for attending and will have the opportunity to respond.
