This programme is fully online and perfect if you’re wanting to work and learn part-time. You will also become part of an online community of educators who are happy to share their methods, materials and systems with you.
Entry requirements
Applicants must meet the following entry requirements:
Academic requirements
Have an undergraduate qualification or other evidence that the applicant is capable of study at Level 7;
Or
Has completed a Tertiary Teaching qualification at Level 5 and/or has relevant teaching experience.
English language entry requirements
Applicants must have sufficient competence in the English language to undertake this programme, which is taught and assessed in English.
Any applicant whose first language is not English may be required to provide evidence of an overall IELTS (Academic band score of 7.0 or better with a minimum of 6.5 for writing, or equivalent. their English language competency.
Exceptions
Applicants who have not attained the age of 20 years and do not hold the required minimum entry requirements may be eligible to be enrolled in exceptional circumstances. Such decisions will be made by the appropriate Head of Practice and will be determined on a case by case basis.

The course content covered a wide range of topics, including the theoretical foundations of adult literacy and numeracy, the importance of culturally responsive teaching, and strategies for promoting learner engagement and motivation. I found it highly useful to understand the Māori and Pasifika learners’ worldviews of education and their specific needs in the context of literacy and numeracy and to design lessons for learners from these accordingly.
